Fuseboard Replacements

Since the introduction of the 17th edition wiring regulations on the 1st January 2008 a greater amount of protection has been required for the protection of circuits in a domestic setting.

If your house is older than 1st July 2008 and you haven't had any work carried out on the electrics, there is a very good chance that it doesn't have the correct level of protection recommended.

Many Fuseboards are now classed as obsolete and do not comply with the protection for today's safety standards.

Do you need a new Fuseboard? Here's what to look out for:

  • A Fuseboard with a wooden back, cast iron switches or a mixture of different fuses probably dates back to the 1960s - this should be replaced as soon as possible.
  • No RCD protection on the Fuseboard.
